How to Make a Diamond Cage Suncatcher

How to Make a Diamond Cage Suncatcher

Create a bold and elegant diamond cage suncatcher filled with sparkling crystal drops, soft pink accents, and shimmering movement that catches light beautifully from every angle.

Supply List

  • 1 Long Diamond Cage Suncatcher Frame
  • 1 Large Star Crystal
  • 1 Long Drop Crystal
  • 1 Fat Top Drilled Bead
  • 4 Center Drilled Drops
  • 1 Bag Center Drill Drops (Tiny)
  • 12 Silver 6mm Jump Rings
  • 12" Gold Chain
  • 8 Pink Bicones
  • 8 Small Pink Drops
  • 8 Small Purple Drops
  • 6" 18 Gauge Gold Wire
  • 24" 24 Gauge Gold Wire

STEP 1: Adding the Star Crystal

Cut two 1" pieces of 18 gauge wire and form large loops to create DIY jump rings. Attach one loop through the star crystal and connect it using a 6mm jump ring.

Then connect this to another DIY wire loop that is secured at the pinnacle of the top of the diamond frame, allowing the star to hang centered and secure.

STEP 2: Attaching the Long Drop Crystal

Create another DIY jump ring using 18 gauge wire and thread it through the top of the long drop crystal. Attach it to the bottom point of the cage using two 6mm jump rings to allow free movement and balance at the base.

STEP 3: Adding the Fat Top Drilled Bead

At the inner center point of the diamond frame, use a DIY wire loop and two 6mm jump rings to attach the fat top drilled bead. Secure it so it sits centered within the cage structure, adding depth and visual focus to the design.

STEP 4: Create Color Dangles

Cut your gold chain into four 1.5" sections. Attach one end of each chain to the corners of the cage frame using a jump ring.

For each dangle, cut a 3" piece of 24 gauge wire. Create a loop on one end, then thread on a pink bicone, a drop, and a tiny drop. Add a top-drilled teardrop bead, then guide the wire back up through the beads to form a loop for the top-drilled bead.

Once the wire is threaded back through, wrap the remaining wire between the loop and bicone to secure everything in place. Attach each finished dangle to the chain using a jump ring.

Your diamond cage suncatcher is now complete—full of sparkle, color, and graceful movement that shines in every ray of light!
