The amazing Jem Hawkes is back and she’s going to show us how to very simply use the herringbone style wrap for wire work in your jewelry. This technique can be made more complex or kept quite simple- it’s up to you!
A herringbone wrap is the name given to the style of wire wrapping around a bead in a V-shape. Almost resembling the bones of a fish, this pattern can be created using the step-by-step tutorial Jem provides above. For those who want to challenge themselves, check out Jem's herringbone wire-wrapped bracelet here featuring a similar technique.
In this video, Jem features wire in 16, 18, and 20 gauge. She also will be using ear wires and some basic tools including round nose pliers, bent-nose pliers, and wire cutters. The beads featured in this project are from our limited-edition Year of the Snake collection.
