In these tutorials, we’ll show you how to make two beautiful Day of the Dead-inspired tassel earrings using our Ruby Red Dress and Lovely Pink Floral Dress earring kits. Whether you love bold reds or pretty pink florals, these festive earrings are a fun way to add a little handmade magic to your jewelry collection!
Day of The Dead Earrings Kit in Ruby Red Dress
Kit Supply List:
- 2 Tassels
- 2 Skull Beads
- 2 Mini Chain (cut into 1/2")
- 6-8 Mini Jump Rings
- 2 Ear Wires
- 8" wire (cut into 1/2")
- Seed Beads
Tools (not included):
- Wire Cutter
- Round Nose Pliers
- Flat Nose Pliers
STEPS:
1. Attach the wire to the tassel.
Fold a 4" piece of wire in half, leaving one side about 1" long and the other about 3" long. Thread the wire through the top of the tassel and twist once to secure.
2. Add the skull bead.
Thread seed beads and the skull bead onto both wires. Use the shorter wire to make a small loop just above the skull bead.
3. Create the beaded crown.
Thread seed beads onto the longer wire to create a little crown around the top of the skull bead. Make a small loop to secure the beads, then trim away any excess wire.
4. Attach the ear wire.
Connect the ear wire to the loop at the top of your earring.
5. Add the chain arms. Take one piece of chain and attach a mini jump ring to each end. Then, use the jump rings to attach each end of the chain to either side of the tassel’s jump ring. This creates the look of your Day of the Dead lady holding her hands clasped in front of her!
6. Make the matching earring.
Repeat all the steps to create your second earring, and you're ready to show off your festive handmade jewelry!
Day of The Dead Earrings Kit in Lovely Pink Floral Dress
Kit Supply List:
- 8" Wire
- 3" Chain
- 4 Flower Tassels
- 2 Bead Caps
- 2 Skull Beads
- 9 Mini Rose Beads
- Seed Beads
- 2 Earring Hooks
- 6-8 Mini Jump Rings
- 2 Lg Jump Rings
Tools (not included):
- Wire Cutter
- Round Nose Pliers
- Flat Nose Pliers
STEPS:
Cut your wire in half and cut your chain in half.
2. Create the dress.
Connect two tassels together by attaching the loop at the top of the bottom tassel to the loop underneath the top tassel. This creates a beautiful, tall dress!
3. Add the chain arms.
Attach a mini jump ring to each end of your chain. Use the jump rings to connect the chain to either side of the loop on the top tassel. This gives your Day of the Dead lady her clasped hands!
4. Attach the skull bead.
Bend your 4" piece of wire so one end is about 1" long and the other is about 3" long. Thread the wire through the loop on the top tassel. Add a bead cap and then the skull bead, threading both wires through the beads. Use the shorter wire to make a loop above the skull. This is where you'll attach your ear wire.
5. Create the flower crown.
Use the longer wire to make her flower crown. String on the rose beads and pink seed beads, then gently bend the wire into a circle around the top of the skull. Tuck the wire underneath the crown and wrap it around itself to secure. Trim away any excess wire.
6. Attach the ear wire.
Connect the ear wire to the loop you made with the short wire.
7. Make the matching earring.
Repeat the steps to create your second earring, and your festive floral Day of the Dead earrings are ready to wear!
