How To Make Beaded Fairies

How To Make Beaded Fairies

Tools you will need

- A small round tube of some sort (toothpick or thin paint brush handle)
- Scissors
* If you have beading tools, you can also use needle-nose pliers and wire cutters.

Step One: Making the Body of the Beaded Fairy

Body

1. Cut a length of wire 6" or longer and fold it in half. This will form the body and the legs.
2. Starting at the end with 2 wires, thread the hat flower, wood head bead, metal cap or spacer, and dress flower.
3. Bend the folded wire on top of the hat into a small loop to prevent the beads from slipping off.
4. On the other end, use the mixed color seed beads on the 2 wires to create striped or plain stockings. Add a pair of oval beads to each end for shoes. Make a small loop on the toe to secure each.

At this point, your fairy should have a body and legs! The body should flex and spin easily.

Step Two: Making the Arms

Arms

5. Cut another short length of wire and bend in 1/2. Check that the arm length looks good and add a little extra. You can always take some off.
6. At the neck place your bended area of wire. Cross in front & back tightly to secure.
7. Choose your sleeves. This can be a drop or barrel shape. Don't use the oval shoes! If it is a drop shape string the thicker end closest to the body, where a shoulder would be.
8. Add the sleeve bead and a few additional seed beads. Complete with a single skin tone seed bead (hands).
9. Make a small loop at the end of each arm to secure the beads in place.

You now have an adorable little figure with bendable arms and legs! On to the wings!

Step Three: Wings

Wings

10. Cut another short length of wire. About the same length you used for the arms.
11. Bend in half and loop around, same thing you did with the arms.
12. Bend both wired so they are on the back side of your fairy. Make sure the wires are straight and close together.
13. Choose the wings. Find the 2 small holes in the center. Thread each wire thru one of the holes.
14. Thread both wires thru the hole of one peanut/bowtie shaped bead.
15. Create a loop with both wires to secure the wings.

Yay! You now have a flower fairy!

Beaded Flower Fairy

Tips & Tricks
- If you feel the the body is too loose, simply wrap the loop on the hat, legs, arms, or wings again until you like it!
- Add a topper to the hat at the very beginning. A flower, leaf or even a metal finding! Use a bead cap as hair under the flower cap.
- Have fun!
